Nope, did you?

We caught a good portion of it last night. I really like Obama, but some of his answers to questions last night weren't exactly what I had hoped. I think we're going to see Hillary/John Edwards ticket in the general election next year.

I think if the Democratic party is counting on either Hillary or Obama they are in trouble. My thoughts on Hillary are:

1. she is the most polished speaker and the most comfortable in the debate setting, but beware, it just means she knows what to say to appease the masses. I very much doubt her sincerity.

2. many countries in the world are not prepared for a female President even if the US thinks they are ready. The United States is a superpower and is too much in the forefront of all the rest of the world's business both in peace and in war. Think of how the Arab countries alone would react to a woman in such a power position. No good can come out of it.

I agree with you on the first point, though I don't necessarily agree with your second point. I just think a second Clinton presidency would be more of the same.

I think Obama would bring much needed change to Washington and help repair America's very tarnished image. I think he's a very brilliant man with a very sincere moral code; I'm still undecided on the question of his experience or lack thereof.

I have to say, I would love to finally see a woman be sworn in as President. However, I do agree that much of the Arab world would have huge issues with this... and after 911, that makes me nervous. Our current status in the Middle East is very scary right now as it is with oil lovin' W in charge. Of course, there is part of me that says screw them, let's get a woman in there to clean things up. But Hillary? And like Mel said, it would just be another repeat Clinton presidency and we need something different.

Everyone should take this quiz: http://www.selectsmart.com/president/2008.html

Chris C, my friend from Maryland, did the selectsmart.com quiz on my blog. He came up 85% Obama and he said, and I quote, "Melanie appears to be a political genius". Poor Chris, so easily fooled!

Mel: "Would you like fries with that?"
